Documentary Film/ 13 Mins

An estimated 80 million people around the world have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to large-scale dam construction projects. In the name of national development, these communities gave up their ancestral lands, cultural heritage, and way of life — hoping their sacrifice would lead to a brighter future, as promised by the government.

Ban Na Village, once a vibrant rural community nestled along the Ping River in Northern Thailand’s Tak province. Now lies submerged beneath the Bhumibol Dam — Thailand’s largest concrete dam.

Traces of Home is a story of a granddaughter, who sets out to uncover the past she never knew she was connected to. Her grandmother, a woman she has never met, once called Ban Na home. What begins as a search for a lost village slowly transforms into a deeply personal exploration of identity, memory, and intergenerational connection
